Congratulations to Dean’s Dissertation Award winner Jayeeta Chaudhuri, Ph.D

Celebrating our Outstanding Fall 2025 Graduates from the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University! 🎉🎓 Dean’s Dissertation Award winner Jayeeta Chaudhuri, Ph.D. received her doctoral degree in electrical engineering, working under the supervision of Fulton Professor of Microelectronics Krishnendu Chakrabarty.
Chakrabarty describes her as an ambitious and collaborative researcher who is highly creative in finding practical solutions to complex problems.
Chaudhuri’s research combines hardware design, circuit simulation, FPGA prototyping and machine learning to address microelectronics hardware security.
Her research, funded by the National Science Foundation and Synopsys Inc among others, includes five journal articles, eight peer-reviewed conference papers and two patent applications.
During Chaudhuri’s doctoral studies, she completed internships at Intel and NVIDIA, where mentors praised her work ethic and original thinking. Her internship at NVIDIA led to an offer for a full-time position, which she will begin after graduation.

Congratulations to Dr. Krish Chakrabarty who is among the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) newest class of Fellows.
NAI Fellowship is the highest professional distinction awarded solely to inventors. Together, the 2025 class hold more than 5,300 U.S. patents and include recipients of the Nobel Prize, the National Medals of Science and Technology & Innovation, and members of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, among others. This year’s 169 U.S. Fellows represent 127 universities, government agencies, and research institutions, across 40 U.S. states.

Congratulations to Bertan Bakkaloglu for receiving the Joseph C. Palais Distinguished Faculty Scholar Award for 2025

Bertan Bakkaloglu, the On Semiconductor Professor in the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering, part of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University, has received the Joseph C. Palais Distinguished Faculty Scholar Award for 2025. Established in 2016 by electrical engineering Emeritus Professor Joseph Palais, the Palais Award recognizes electrical engineering faculty for excellence in the areas of research, teaching and service.
Congratulations to Krish Chakrabarty for receiving the Semiconductor Research Corporation 2025 Innovation Award

Professor Krishnendu Chakrabarty (Arizona State University) receives this honor for developing a novel Design-for-Test (DfT) architecture, U.S. Patent US10444279B2, that enables pre-bond parametric testing of through-silicon vias (TSVs). This technology allows early defect detection, improving yield and reliability in advanced 3D integrated circuits. Chakrabarty’s work has been widely recognized and adopted in the semiconductor industry, including by companies like Intel, Mentor Graphics, Samsung, TSMC, NXP, and Qualcomm.

ACME Center PhD. Student, Eduardo Ortega has been selected as a recipient of the Outstanding Research Award in the Spring 2024 Cycle of GPSA Awards. About the Award: The Outstanding Research Award recognizes graduate and professional students who exemplify excellence in research on all ASU campuses. The award aims to foster the development of innovative projects or research of interdisciplinary character that demonstrates a positive impact on the academic/local community, with a notable contribution to their field.

Faculty Awards and Recognitions
Assistant Professor received an inaugural 2025 Google ML and Systems Junior Faculty Award
Assistant Professor Vidya Chhabria received an inaugural 2025 Google ML and Systems Junior Faculty Award in recognition of the significance and promise of her work in Computer-Aided Design. Chhabria will receive $100,000 of unrestricted gift funding to support future research.
Dr. Krish Chakrabarty receives the Distinguished Engineering Educator Award
The Engineers’ Council has selected Dr. Krish Chakrabarty to receive the Distinguished Engineering Educator Award at the 70th Anniversary Annual Honors & Awards Banquet held on February 22, 2025.

Professor Christopher Bailey receives the IEEE EPS Award


Professor Christopher Bailey represented ASU on an Heterogeneous Integration Roadmap panel with European Packaging leaders from Fraunhofer, CEA, Infineon, TNO, etc. To discuss Packaging research in USA, EU; Prototype Lines (Note Fraunhofer is the Packaging Pilot Line in EU); and Workforce Development activities related to packaging.
He also received the IEEE EPS Award for Region 8 for contributions to packaging in Europe. Mainly acknowledging his work over last 25 years before joining ASU.
This was a major packaging conference in Berlin Germany with 400+ attendees from industry and academia. NIST also provided a presentation on NAPMP.
Open Compute Project Foundation supporting ASU researcher’s work to improve microchip quality assessments
Krishnendu Chakrabarty, the Fulton Professor of Microelectronics, has been given the Driving Innovation in SDC Mitigation Award from the Open Compute Project Foundation to develop quality assurance testing that will improve the reliability and function of data servers

ACME Center and collaborators are selected for IEEE Cloud Summit Best Paper
June 2023- Congratulations to Krish Chakrabarty and team for being selected for best paper for, Inference Serving System for Stable Diffusion as a Service. Krish Chakrabarty and Farshad Firouzi are co-authors from ASU, the rest of the team are from Duke University, and they are PhD student, Arita Ray, Lukas Dannull, and Kyle Lafata.
